HUATULCO SUSTAINABLE
EarthCheck
Equipo Verde Huatulco has been driving the implementation of the international EarthCheck system since 2003, an environmental management and certification model based on the continuous measurement and improvement of socio-environmental indicators.
Thanks to this effort, Bahías de Huatulco obtained the EarthCheck Silver certification in 2005, becoming the first tourist destination in the Americas and third in the world to achieve it.
In 2020, Huatulco reached the EarthCheck Master level, consolidating itself as an international benchmark in tourism sustainability. The certification is currently in the renewal process.
The program integrates the participation of the private, academic, social and governmental sectors, strengthening governance and decision-making oriented toward regional sustainability.
