Education for Conservation
Environmental education represents one of the fundamental pillars of Equipo Verde Huatulco.
Through permanent programs and campaigns, social awareness is promoted about the importance of environmental conservation, responsible use of natural resources, and citizen participation.
Through initiatives such as EarthCheck and the Code of Customs for Sustainable Development, activities are developed to strengthen environmental culture in the educational, tourism, business, and community sectors, inviting all social actors to commit to caring for the natural environment and sustainable development of the region.

Implementation of continuous environmental training programs for the population through educational institutions at all levels, from preschool to university.

Conferences and talks have been opened in the same social and productive sectors in order to train, raise awareness and inform the population on sustainable development.

Program started in 2005 called Sábados de Acopio (Collection Saturdays), which ran for four years with the goal of raising awareness among the population about waste separation.

Following the Sábados de Acopio program, the first Temporary Collection and Transfer Center was installed where the population can drop off separated waste any day and at any time.

Local community programs have been developed to prevent batteries from ending up in landfills, beaches, parks and gardens, always seeking proper final disposal.

As part of the Sábado de Acopio programs, children's workshops for waste reuse were implemented in parallel, including the creation of various ornaments.

As part of waste reduction programs, composting workshops using vegetable organic waste have been implemented in the main hotels of the tourist development.

Within the beach certification programs of the Huatulco Clean Beaches Committee, participation in mangrove reforestation has helped ensure their conservation.

As part of waste reuse programs, communities have been engaged in reusing tetrapack waste as a protective material for roofs and wooden walls.

Coordination and participation in conservation and cleanup programs for parks and gardens with the Huatulco Clean Beaches and Local Agenda 21 committees, maintaining major beach cleanups.

Permanent participation is maintained with print, radio and television media as tools to keep the community informed, as well as the website and electronic newsletters.

Permanent participation in various national and international environmental commemorative events to raise awareness and educate the local population.

As part of outreach and awareness efforts, campaigns related to actions such as 'Separating… has never been so easy' and the environmental actions of Gucháchì are maintained.

In collaboration with the Federal Government, State Government and the Hotels and Motels Association of Bahías de Huatulco, various environmental outreach campaigns have been implemented for local and tourist populations.

The Equipo Verde Huatulco mascot participates in the different local environmental events that are continuously held in the region.

Collaboration with various local committees and the private sector in implementing environmental certification programs such as Environmental Quality, Clean Tourist Destination and EarthCheck.

Local Agenda 21, Copalita Tonameca River Basin, Huatulco Tourism Promotion, Municipal Maritime-Terrestrial Federal Zone, Huatulco Clean Beaches, Health and Huatulco Tourism Promotion.

Active presence in the main collegiate bodies for environmental and tourism decision-making in the region, strengthening governance and sustainability-oriented decisions.
